played in a square board (chessboard) which includes 64 squares arranged in
eight by eight grid. In chess there are two colours of pieces one is white and
other one is black. Each player control
sixteen pieces. The pieces include one king, one queen, two rooks, two knights,
two bishops, and eight paws. The main
object of the game is to checkmate the king of the opponent, if one is able to
do so then he is consider as winner of the game. The other one possibility in
the game is that it can be drawn. The position of the pieces are from bottom
first row it include the rock, knight, bishop, queen, king, bishop, knight,
rock. And the second row includes all eight paws. In the start we can only move
the paws. The paws can move only one or two squares at a time. The paws can
only move straight. First step is always
taken by the paws. The rook moves both horizontally or vertically but only in straight
directions on the chessboard but it can move one square at one time. The knight
can only move in L shape directions on the chessboard. The bishop can move any number of squares diagonally but jump over
other pieces, so long as it is not obstructed by another piece. The queen can
moved in any directions it may be horizontally, vertically, straight or
diagonally but it cannot jump over other pieces. The king can one move one step
at a time it may be straight, horizontally, vertically or diagonally. The paws
cannot be travelled or moved backwards whereas the rook, knight, bishop, queen
and king can be moved backward. One moves is interesting that is if the rook
and king are side by side then the king can swap its place with the rook.
